COVID-19 Protocol for the 2022 Show

Posted on

We are all very excited to get back to our normal lives and activities, especially the return of the Magic Moments annual production! We expect there to be a 2022 show, and information about auditions and dates should be coming out in the next few months. As part of our preparation for the return of our beloved show, the Production Team and the Board of Directors are in discussions about what COVID-19 protocols we should put in place to keep our actors, staff, and other participants safe and healthy. No decisions have been made yet about what the protocols will be. Please keep an eye on our website for additional information and announcements about our plans for a safe and fun 2022 production.

A Message from our Artistic Director

photo of KQFor the first time in 38 years, there is no first day rehearsal for Magic Moments. This is kind of a sad day, filled with a sense of loss, or maybe nostalgia, or anger at the universe, or many other emotions.

But, it could also be a time for reflection, a time to deepen our friendships in other ways thru our MM associations. We can bring renewed energy, renewed commitment, renewed passion for what we love. We have the chance to find new ideas, songs, dances, new ways of doing what we love. We can use all of this to reinforce the idea that all of us are one and the same regardless of our various and different attribute, talents etc. and show the world that this is not just an idea but is a livable reality.

I miss you all and look forward to many more years of “United we stand, united we fall, let’s make this show the best of all! Give ‘em hell!!”

Break-a-leg,
KQ

Colorado Gives Day 2020

Colorado Gives is Tuesday, December 8th – it’s right around the corner!  It’s been a crazy year, and we wanted to ask for your support next Tuesday.

Our President, Ted Kuenz said this in August, and it’s still true today.  “Magic Moments is still a solvent and operating Non-Profit business. While we do have some cash reserves, not being able to have performances last year severely impacted our bottom line. We have been blessed by many contributions that helped keep things going.”

We will unfortunately not be producing a traditional Magic Moments show in 2021, but the Board of Directors and Production teams have been hard at work looking for other ways to keep our community together and active.  In the first quarter of 2021 we will be offering several exciting workshops, virtually of course, and we are excited to share that we will be producing an event called the “Front Porch Cabaret”.   Look for details in the upcoming weeks.

As always, our friends and family are important to helping us keep the “magic” going.  Please consider donating to Magic Moments on Colorado Gives Day next Tuesday.  Everything helps, and we are grateful for every penny donated to our organization.

The State of the Union, Magic Moments Style

Hello Magic Moments community! I know this is probably a long time coming, but first and foremost I wanted to send out a big THANK YOU to our community at large for their tremendous support during these unprecedented times! The continued support we have shown each other through social media and other forms of communication has been great. Not knowing exactly what the future holds, I felt now would be a good time to let everyone know the state of Magic Moments and how we are planning to weather the storm.

As of this writing, Magic Moments is still a solvent and operating Non-Profit business. While we do have some cash reserves, not being able to have performances last year severely impacted our bottom line. We were blessed by many contributions of ticket sales that helped keep things going. It is doubtful that a show will be possible this year, but the board is looking into other events that can keep our community together and active. More on that will follow as plans solidify.

In the meantime, the best thing we can do is stay positive, stay in touch, and do our best to keep going until we get through this epic pandemic that has been felt especially in the arts community. Fundraising will be the best thing we can do to be sure we are in a good financial position once things turn around. If you have any suggestions or ideas please let us know, talk to your companies about sponsorship, or maybe discuss gifting within your families. According to Philanthropy News Digest about a third of nonprofits are expected to close within the year, we will work hard not to be in that category!

Much love to you all and hope to see you soon!

Ted Kuenz
